Beyond the Rim is a
"launching pad" to other sites and a research project seeking new and
creative web designs. Essentially, the Internet is a research and robust
communications tool.
Since this site's early days, I have found sites of various interests. Some help to increase
one's knowledge of the universe. Others are simply entertaining. Yet
other sites, such as "skeptical" sites, try to make the world a better
place through reason and science. The
Internet allows one to both earn and save money while shopping or doing
business. One can buy office equipment on Ebay for a fraction of retail
costs. The other business start-up cost of office "space" is reduced
to zero, the cost of this site at first. Originally conceived in 1997 as a means to keep track of my favorite
web links, it became Beyond the Rim in 1999 as tribute to my favorite television
program. As I improved my web coding skills, I tried them out on this
site. In the end, the best design enables the visitor to
view pages and find links without annoyances, such as too many images, bloated pages,
automated pop-ups, poor spelling and bad colors.
Some of my web designs keep web content within screen view.
I focuse my designs on "text based" formats that try to reduce the amount of typing the visitor has to do.
(Not everyone can type.) Havie fun exploring my site. You may learn
something today. Julie K. Frey
